L-glutamine is the most abundant amino acid in the body, comprising roughly 60% of the free amino acid pool in skeletal muscle. During intense training, injury or illness, glutamine levels drop dramatically — and these are exactly the situations where supplementation can make a real difference.

Enterocytes — the cells lining the intestinal wall — are highly dependent on glutamine as fuel.
